VICKSBURG -- The Clinton Lady Arrow Cross Country teams swept their second consecutive event on Saturday morning at Sherman Avenue Elementary School.
Participating in Warren Central's Valhalla invitational, the Lady Arrows grabbed first place in the high school's 5000m race and CJHS won the 3000m competition. The Clinton High School team was paced by freshman
Olivia Gibbs' second-place, individual finish, and CJHS was led by AvaKate Boone, who had a podium spot in third.
In the 5000m race, Gibbs finished with a 20:43 mark around the hilly course that snakes the campus of Sherman Avenue off Highway 61.
Riley Moore and
Caroline Henry rounded out the top five with times of 20:47 and 21:46, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
Clinton's other two scoring runners were
Lily Sisson and
Eleanor Wilson in sixth and seventh places. Sisson posted a time of 22 minutes, 16 seconds, and Wilson added her time of 22 minutes, 57 seconds. The five scores totaled 24 points in the high-school race.
In the 3000m race, Boone finished with a time of 13:15.
Norah Byars paced herself to 13:40 finish in fourth, and
Lauren Kennedy chipped in her fifth-place finish, timing out at 13 minutes, 52 seconds.
Katherine Chittom rounded out the Lady Arrows in the individual top 10 with her time of 14:28, which found the eighth-grader in seventh.
CJHS runners
Anna Dear and
Leah Byas both placed in the individual top 15.

The Lady Arrows hit the course this Saturday, hosting the Clinton Arrow Invitational on the campus of Clinton High School. The meet starts at 8 a.m. with high school girls' 5000m race.
