PONTOTOC -- The Clinton High School Women's Cross Country team finished third place in the 5000m race at the Pontotoc XC Invitational on Saturday morning.
In its sixth race of the season, Clinton utilized
Riley Moore's seventh-place finish, and
Lily Sisson's eighth spot to pace their podium finish. The Lady Arrows have not finished lower than fourth place so far this season.
Moore paced the Lady Arrows with a pace of 21 minutes, one second, and Sisson crossed the finish line in 21 minutes, six seconds.
Eleanor Wilson chipped in a time of 22 minutes through the course.
Caroline Henry placed 25th with a time of 22 minutes, 49 seconds. Clinton's final scorer was
Payton Greer, completing the three-mile course in 24:22.
CJHS landed in seventh place as a team in the 3500m race.
Katherine Chittom placed 10th and ended her run in 15 minutes, 40 seconds.
Norah Byars placed 17th with a time of 15:59, and
Lauren Kennedy added a time of 16:23, ending in 25th.
Leah Byas and
Daliylah McHarris rounded out the scoring runners with times of 19:05 and 20:13, respectively.

CJHS looks to defend their middle-school state title on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the MHSAA Cross Country Classic. The meet is held at Mississippi College's Choctaw Trails in Clinton.
