The Clinton High School Women's Cross Country team concluded their 2025 campaign with sixth-place finish at the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 7A State Championships held at Choctaw Trails on Saturday, November 1.
Junior
Riley Moore led the Lady Arrows with a time of 20:36, finishing 18th overall in an elite field of overall runners. Clinton showcased a balanced team effort as three other Lady Arrows --
Lily Sisson,
Caroline Henry, and
Eleanor Wilson -- completed the 5000-meter race in less than 21 minutes.
It was a first for Head Women's Cross Country Coach Allen Marett.
"We are a young team, and, fortunately, we return the majority of our team next season," Marett said. "This is the first time that I have coached a team where I had four runners under 21 minutes in the same race. The program is trending in a positive direction with a great group of young ladies. I am very excited to see what next season holds (for the team)."
Sisson set a personal best with a time of 20:36, while
Caroline Henry chipped in her time of 20:38. Wilson, who ran personal best, as well, posted a time of 20 minutes, 56 seconds.
Payton Greer, a freshman Lady Arrow, rounded out the five scoring runners with a time of 23:02.
Moore, Henry, and Greer were within seven seconds of their 2025 season best times.
Eighth-grader
Lauren Kennedy competed in her third-ever varsity race and posted a personal best of 23:46, and
Ellen Fortenberry, a junior, completed the course in a time of 24:39 -- a great showing after her recovery from an injury.
The top-10 finish marks another step forward for the Lady Arrows program toward next season.
