Clinton Track excels in out-of-state test, Arrows take team crown

The Clinton High School Track and Field teams opened the 2026 outdoor season in impressive fashion Friday at the Clinton Season Opener, turning in multiple first-place finishes and dominant performances to begin the campaign on a high note.

COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. -- The Clinton High School Track and Field team faced top-tier competition, including state champions from Tennessee and Missouri, at the Dragon Invitational at Collierville High School on Saturday, April 4.

The Lady Arrows earned second place with a team total of 159.5 points in the girls' division, while the Arrows captured the boys' team title with a team total of 148 points.

For the Lady Arrows, Andraeia Cavett topped the podium in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.77 seconds. Kamiah Mounger won the 400-meter race, crossing the finish line in 57.73 seconds. The 4x200-meter relay team of Khamrin Harper, Karsen Goodwin, Camille Lewis, and Mounger added another victory, posting a time of 1:41.41.

For the Arrows, Carter Parks won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 14.39 seconds, while Trevion Casnel claimed the top spot in the 300-meter hurdles, posting a time of 40.26 seconds. Jaxcen Williams won the 200-meter race in 22.28 seconds, rounding out winners in track events.

In the field events, Jonathan Rockett delivered an impressive performance, sweeping both the shot put and discus with throws of 56-01 and 143-01, respectively. Jonah Banks also had a big day, topping the podium in the long jump (22-10.5 feet) and high jump (6 feet, 6 inches).

The 4x100-meter relay team of Jimmy Bowie, Aiden Knox, Jeremiah Barnett, and Williams won the event, finishing in 42.28 seconds. The combination of Bowie, Knox, Barnett, and Casnell won the 4x200-meter relay in one minute, 29.45 seconds.

The Lady Arrows and Arrows return to action at the Woody Barnett Invitational on Friday, April 10, at Pearl High School. Events are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
