Clinton Track & Field sweeps Region 2-7A titles

The Clinton High School Track and Field team continued its strong outdoor season by sweeping both team titles at the Arrow Invitational on a windy Saturday at Arrow Field.

CLINTON -- In a commanding performance on their home track, the Clinton High School track and field teams captured both 2026 Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Region 2-7A championships on Friday, April 17, at Arrow Field.

The Lady Arrows scored 298 points, and the Arrows totaled 205 points in their winning performances.

More importantly, Clinton advanced numerous athletes to the MHSAA Class 7A North State Championships set for Thursday, April 23, at Arrow Field.

For the Lady Arrows, eight individuals and all four relay teams claimed region titles, while the Arrows had five individuals and three relay teams earn first-place finishes.

LADY ARROW REGION WINNERS

Khamrin Harper won the 100-meter dash in 12.05 seconds and the 200-meter race in 24.30.

Andraeia Cavett swept the hurdles, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 14.28 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 45.94.

Kamiah Mounger captured the 400-meter race in 58.08 seconds.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Karsen Goodwin, Camille Lewis, Cavett, and Harper won in 47.57 seconds. The 4x200-meter quarter of Makenzie Holiday, Mounger, Harper, and Lewis posted a winning time of 1:42.19.

Ellen Claire Fortenberry, Ja'Milah Williams, Shekinah Jenkins, and Holiday claimed first in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:10.59. Mackenzie Speed, Cailtyn Magee, Jenkins, and Fortenberry won the 4x800-meter relay in 10:40.95.

In the field events, Jurnee Nash won the discus with a throw of 108-9, while Kailey Daliet captured the shot put with a toss of 34-08.

Tenley Prestwood cleared 10-06 to win the pole vault. Ja'Mya Marshall took first in the long jump with a leap of 17-03, and Jamaya Ivory won the triple jump at 35-09.25.

ARROW REGION WINNERS

Aiden Knox won the 100-meter race in 10.90 seconds, while Carter Parks claimed the 110-meter hurdles title in 14.71.

Jaxcen Williams won the 200-meter dash in 21.87 seconds.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Jeremiah Barnett, Knox, Williams, and Parks finished first in 42.16 seconds. The 4x200-meter quartet of Tyler Dabney, Barnett, Williams, and Knox also took the top spot with a time of 1:29.03.

Godwin Oniya, Myron Pate, Tobias Atkinson, and Jaylen Brister won the 4x800-meter relay in 8:28.66.

Jonathan Rockett swept the throwing events, winning the discus with a toss of 142-03 and the shot put with a throw of 55-05.

Jonah Banks won the high jump with a clearance of 6-06, then added another region title in the long jump with a mark of 22-11.50.

Clinton track and field returns to action on Thursday, April 23, hosting the MHSAA Class 7A North State Championships at Arrow Field. Events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
