PEARL -- The Clinton High School Men's Track and Field team put forth a strong effort in the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 7A State Championships, finishing runner-up to Pearl High School on Saturday, May 3rd, at the Woody Barnett Track and Field Complex.
Despite entries in only 11 of 18 scored events, the Arrows kept it close with the Pirates throughout the day. However, Pearl's 111 team total was too much to overcome -- 25 more points than Clinton's team total.
Individually,
Howard Banks, a Mississippi State Track and Field signee, was crowned state champion in the 400m race, posting a 47.55-second time. Additionally, Clinton's 4x400m relay team of
Jeremiah Barnett, Marquis Norwood, Christian Tidwell, and Banks won the relay heat with a time of three minutes, 21 seconds.
