PEARL -- The Clinton Lady Arrows already owned the state record in the 4x400-meter relay. On Friday, April 10, they shattered it.
Competing at the Woody Barnett Invitational on April 10 at Pearl High School, the Lady Arrows' quartet of Kamiah Mounger, Khamrin Harper, Caitlyn Magee, and Makenzie Holiday blazed to a new state-record time of 3:52.89, putting an exclamation mark on a standout day for Clinton Track and Field.
The record-breaking performance helped Clinton close out the regular-season meet schedule on a high note as both teams claimed titles.
The Lady Arrows won the girls team championship with 183.5 points, while the Arrows captured the boys title with 107.5 points.
Clinton piled up wins across the track and field events in a dominant all-around performance.
Other standout performances for the Lady Arrows included Harper's winning time of 12.18 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Andraeia Cavett claimed the top spot in the 100-meter hurdles, while Mounger captured the 400-meter title with a time of 55.66 seconds.
Caroline Henry turned in a dominant distance double, winning the 1600-meter run in 5:21.57 and the 3200-meter race in 12:00.26.
The Lady Arrows' 4x200-meter relay team also secured a first-place finish, crossing the line in 1:38.82.
In the field events, Taylor Finley cleared five feet, two inches to win the high jump, while Tenley Prestwood took first in the pole vault by clearing 11 feet. Jamaya Ivory added another victory with a leap of 36 feet, nine inches to win the triple jump.
For the Arrows, Carter Parks won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.16 seconds, and Jonathan Rockett claimed the shot put title with a throw of 52 feet, one-half inches.

The Lady Arrows and the Arrows open postseason competition by hosting the MHSAA Region 2-7A Championship Meet on Friday, April 17, at Arrow Field. Events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
