Clinton Track & Field claims both team titles at Powerade Relays

The Clinton High School Track and Field teams opened the 2026 outdoor season in impressive fashion Friday at the Clinton Season Opener, turning in multiple first-place finishes and dominant performances to begin the campaign on a high note.

HATTIESBURG -- The Clinton High School Track and Field team pieced together a strong team showing, sweeping both team titles at the Powerade Relays on Friday, March 27.

The Lady Arrows won the girls' team competition with a team total of 234 points, while the Arrows won the boys' division with a team total of 159 points.

The Lady Arrows had several winning performances at the meet hosted by Hattiesburg High School. Khamrin Harper won the 100-meter race with a time of 12.09 seconds. Andraeia Cavett recorded a winning performance in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 14.48 seconds. Jade Evans added a first-place finish in the 200 meters (25.51 seconds), while Caitlyn Magee was the top performer in the 800 meters (2:29.29 seconds).

Caroline Henry won the 1600-meter race and the 3200-meter race with times of 5 minutes, 28 seconds, and 11 minutes, 50 seconds, respectively. Clinton swept all four relay events on the track.

In the field events, Taylor Finley cleared five feet, four inches in the high jump, taking the top spot. Tenley Prestwood continued her meteoric rise in pole vault, clearing 11 feet, two inches.

For the Arrows, Trevion Casnel paced the red and black with two victories in the hurdles events. Casnel won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.76 seconds and returned to the track for the 300-meter hurdles, finishing in 40.47 seconds. Clinton's 4x100 relay, 4x200 relay, and 4x800 relay teams won those events.

Daniel Dickinson won the pole vault event on the boys' side, clearing 12 feet. Jonathan Rockett had the longest throw in the shot put, hurling his instrument 51 feet, 10 inches.
