The Clinton High School Softball team did not shy away from swinging the bat on Thursday night.
The Lady Arrows amassed 16 hits to defeat the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets, 19-1, in their second MHSAA Division 2-7A game at Clinton High School. Clinton (8-8, 1-1) brought their divisional record back to even with the victory.
Makenzie Cooley collected three hits in four at bats. The senior shortstop tripled in the first inning, singled in the third, and singled in the fourth.
Cailyn Willis, the eight-hole hitter for Clinton, led the offensive outburst with four runs batted in and went 3-for-4 on the night.
Jaelyn Gholar,
Keelyn Constancio, and
Hayden-Leigh Holifield, collected multiple hits for the Lady Arrows.
Ashlen Albritton earned the win for the Lady Arrows. The hurler gave up three hits and one run over five innings of work. She struck out five and issued two walks.
Clinton cracked open the scoring with their first at bats.
Estrella Constancio grounded out, scoring one run,
Annalise Whitworth singled, scoring one run, Holifield singled, scoring one run, and Willis added a single, which scored a pair of runs.
The Lady Arrows scored five runs on three hits during the bottom of the second. An error scored one urn, Whitworth was struck by a pitch, driving in a run,
Kaelyn Thames hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Willis tripled, scoring two runs.
The home team extended their lead with eight more runs in the third frame. RBI singles by Cooley, Thames, Holifield, Albritton,
Keelyn Constancio, and Gholar, broke the game wide open, 18-1.

Clinton continues its push for the postseason and a successful 2025 season with three more varsity games this week.
The Lady Arrows square off against the Puckett Lady Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Then, on Thursday, it is Military Appreciation Night as Clinton hosts Germantown in an important Division 2-7A rematch at 6:30 p.m. To close out the week, the red and black travels to Pearl for a 6 p.m. start time against the Lady Pirates.
