PEARL -- The Clinton High School men's golf team made the best of a rescheduled event on Monday.
Law Whitfield shot a plus-3 74 for an individual fourth-place finish, and the Arrows placed third out of eight teams in a stroke-play event hosted by Pearl High School at the Pearl Municipal Golf Course. Clinton finished behind winner Germantown High School and second-place Brandon High School.
The event was initially scheduled for last Thursday but was postponed due to inclement weather provided by Hurricane Francine.
Whitfield led the Arrows as the senior recovered from a plus-4 front nine to go 1-under after the turn. Whitfield birdied the par-4 10th hole and parred the remaining eight holes to end up in fourth. The round was six strokes better than last week's event.
Grayson Fortenberry finished in 10th place. The senior scored a plus-10, carding 81 strokes. Fortenberry earned a birdie and nine pars. It was a two-stroke improvement.
Walker Raney shot an 83, and
Jax Stover scored an 85 for 13th and 16th, respectively. Keeping with the trend of improvement, Raney was 10 strokes better, and Stover was six strokes improved, as well.
Kage Partridge rounded out Clinton's top-five scorers as he carded a 90 for his 18-hole trek.
In comparison to last Monday's event at the Starkville Country Club, the Arrows shaved off 23 strokes from their team total. Â
Outside of Clinton's scoring team,
