VICKSBURG -- The Clinton High School Men's Golf team put forth a strong effort on Tuesday, August 19th.
Anderson Schoggin, a sophomore, led the Arrows with his 87-stroke round, and Clinton placed third overall on the team leaderboard at Warren Central's tournament on the grounds of Vicksburg Country Club.
The difficult undulation of the Par-70 course along with extreme heat provided difficult conditions for the young men in red and black. However, they showed resilience during their 18-hole journeys.
"There was some very difficult terrain to navigate on an extremely hot day," Clinton Head Men's Golf Coach Ryan Smith said. "Anderson started out rocky but finished his round with three pars in a row.
"(Anderson) had a really good back nine to help lead us into the third-place finish today," Smith added.
Mattox Miley fired a 93.
Ben Brunson, a freshman, made his varsity tournament debut and scratched a 95 for the day.
Williams Parry and
Robert Farr both broke the 100 strokes with their 99's.
"I thought
Ben Brunson did a fantastic job in his first-ever varsity tournament," Smith said.
