BRANDON -- It has not been easy to replace 13 seniors from the 2023-24 season, but the Clinton High School Men's Soccer team has taken the challenge in stride this season.
Owen Coker's goal in the 57th minute lifted the Arrows (2-0-1) over the Brandon Bulldogs, 1-0, in a non-district game on Saturday at Brandon High School.
Kellan Brown placed his laces on a Brandon defensive clearance, and the one-touch pass connected with Coker. The midfielder did the rest, cutting in the ball smartly toward the top of the 18-yard box. Coker created enough space off the dribble and smashed his shot low into the right corner with 23 minutes of regulation left.
Clinton goalkeeper
Jesus Estrada kept the Arrow lead intact during the late minutes of the game. As Brandon barraged Clinton's 18-yard box with long free kicks and dangerous corner kicks, Estrada confidently claimed the aerial assaults with his hands.
It was Estrada's second clean sheet of the season.
Clinton secured the win even with a long session of additional time, adjusting to a more defensive mindset.
