CLINTON -- The Clinton High School Men's Soccer team closed the regular season on a high note Tuesday night, shutting out the Brandon Bulldogs, 2-0, in a non-region contest at Arrow Field.
Senior
Timothy Graham opened the scoring, and
Wes Ambrose added an insurance goal as the Arrows improved to 13-5-3 on the season.
Graham struck first in the 11th minute when a through ball from
Bradley Wells slipped him in behind the Brandon back line. The senior striker calmly slotted his finish past the onrushing goalkeeper to give Clinton the early advantage.
Â
Clinton doubled the lead four minutes before halftime off a short corner. Murphy Schoggen played the restart into Ambrose, who took a pair of settling touches before driving a low shot into the far corner for the Arrows' second goal.
Ryan Saxton and the Arrow back line made the advantage stand, earning Clinton's sixth shutout of the season by limiting Brandon's chances over the final 40 minutes.
The Arrows ended the regular season with 44 goals scored and 23 conceded. Juan Parades and Graham paced Clinton's attack with nine goals apiece. Parades led the squad with nine assists in 21 matches.
