JACKSON --The Clinton High School Women's Cross Country team held their heads high on Saturday morning.
Clinton grabbed the fourth place spot in a competitive 5000m race at the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 7A State Meet at Choctaw Trails. Clinton's
Kaedyn Wilson, a senior, placed in the top 10 overall.
"I'm proud of these ladies for their season," Lady Arrow Head Women's Cross Country Coach Allen Marett said. "They all pushed hard. Across the state, this was a strong senior class so it will be exciting to see how (next year) shapes up. We should be right in the mix again.
"All in all, these girls think like champions and work like champions," Marett said.
Wilson posted a 20:26.35 in her final high school race. The senior led the Lady Arrows' five scoring runners in the meet and received all-state honors for her efforts in the second consecutive year.
"For Kaedyn to get back-to-back all-state honors shows how dedicated she has been for our team," Marett said.
Olivia Gibbs recorded a strong time of 20 minutes, 56 seconds, and
Caroline Henry was the third Lady Arrow to cross the finish line as she completed the course in 21 minutes, 14 seconds.
Payton Greer and
Riley Moore rounded out the scoring runners for the Lady Arrows. Greer and Moore posted times of 21:48.43 and 21:57.78, respectively.
