The Clinton Arrows soccer team defeated the Germantown Mavericks by a score of 7-0 on Thursday night at Arrow Field. The win moves the Arrows to an overall record of 16-1-2 and 6-0 in Region 2-7A. The loss drops the Mavericks to a record of 4-12-3 overall and 0-6 in Region 2-7A.
The Arrows scored in bunches on Thursday night, getting the party started early in the 5th minute when Senior
Keaton Cole scored on an assist from Senior
Logan Bryant. Sophomore
Wes Ambrose tacked on the second goal of the night in the 23rd minute on an assist from Senior
Price Farrar. In the 30th minute, Junior
Erick Martinez scored the third goal of the match on Bryant's second assist. Senior
Hayden Wolfe scored in the very next minute (31') on an assist from Junior
Brayden Bridges. The teams would head into the locker room for halftime with a 4-0 score.
In the second half, it was more of the same, as the Arrows scored in the 45th minute when Senior
Brice Nunnery found the back of the net on an assist from Wolfe. In the 70th minute, Senior
Andrew Kimbrell scored the 6th goal of the night on an assist from Junior
Kellan Brown. The final goal of the match was scored by Sophomore
Murphy Schoggen.
Head Coach Tyler Wade said of Thursday night's game, "It was good for the guys to create some early chances and hopefully find some confidence in the attacking half as we come to the end of the season. Hopefully we can continue the momentum to finish the season and get ready for the playoffs."
The Arrows will return to action on the road next Tuesday night as they travel north to Madison to take on the Jaguars of Madison Central. Kickoff will be at 7:15 PM.
