Madison -- The Clinton High School women's golf team placed fifth behind a pair of outstanding rounds at the Lady Jaguar Invitational on Wednesday, September 23, at Whisper Lake Country Club.

The Lady Arrows finished fifth in the team standings, combining for a team score of 145 over the 18-hole, par-64 event.

Ellyn Burchfield paced Clinton with a round of 69, finishing eighth individually. Burchfield opened her round with a birdie and made the turn at 3-over before carding a 2-over score on the back nine. The senior finished the tournament at 5-over for the round.

Laney Mitchell followed with a 76 to finish 13th individually and completed Clinton's scoring rounds. Mitchell carded two birdies on the front nine to make the turn at 2-over before finishing the back nine at 10-over.

Burchfield and Mitchell combined for three birdies as both Lady Arrows finished inside the individual top 15.

Harper Davis carded an 82, while Chloe Dickinson finished with a 91.

Clinton returns to the course on Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Mississippi High School Invitational at the Mississippi State University Golf Course in Starkville.
