VICKSBURG -- The Clinton High School baseball team earned a 7-5 win over the Warren Central Vikings on Saturday, April 11, in non-region action at Warren Central High School.

Brady Holmes delivered a single in the sixth inning, and a Warren Central error helped the Arrows build a two-run cushion. Gage Temple then shut down the Vikings over the final two and two-thirds innings, allowing just one hit and no runs to seal the victory.

Clinton finished with nine hits in the game. Ethan Dodson and Holmes each collected two hits, while Wesley Warren, David Steelman, Holmes, and Dodson each drove in a run.

Drew McGahey got the start on the mound for the Arrows, allowing five runs, four earned, over two innings. Walker Jackson provided fantastic relief, tossing two and one-third hitless innings and keeping the Vikings off the scoreboard.

Warren Central struck first in the second inning, stealing home for a 1-0 lead.

The Arrows answered in the top of the third, erupting for five runs on five hits to grab a 5-1 advantage. Dodson delivered the biggest blow of the inning with a two-run single.

The Vikings responded in the bottom half of the third, tying the game at 5-5 with the help of a triple and a sacrifice fly.

Clinton regained the lead for good in the sixth and helped on from there behind Temple's strong finish.

The Arrows travel to Ridgeland for a non-region matchup against the Titans at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 13. Clinton returns home Friday, April 17, to host the Brookhaven Panthers on Senior Night.
