CLINTON -- The Clinton High School Men's Soccer team picked up a quality non-region win Thursday night, edging the Northwest Rankin Cougars, 2-1, at Arrow Field. The win improved the Arrows' overall record to 12-5-3.
Senior
Timothy Graham proved to be the difference, recording a brace that included the decisive goal just moments after halftime.
Cole Hayman delivered a perfectly weighted pass beyond the Cougar back line, springing Graham through on goal. Graham finished the chance, and the strike stood as the game-winner as the Arrows held firm defensively down the stretch.
Graham opened the scoring in the 37th minute, finishing off a
Zion Willis set-up. Graham's initial effort was turned aside but Graham tucked home the rebound as the ball rolled across the goal line. The Cougars leveled the score with only 31 seconds left in the first half.
Clinton regained control early in the second half and made the lead hold, closing out the non-region triumph.
