The Clinton High School Football team started its season with an impressive win during the regular season's first week.

Now, the Arrows have to show they can focus on the present as a 1-0 Northwest Rankin squad comes to Arrow Field on Friday, September 5. Clinton and Northwest Rankin kick off their non-district tilt at 7 p.m.

A combination of steady offense and relentless defense formulated a victory for the red and black against Warren Central last Friday, helping the Arrows win 45-13. The Arrows gained well over 450 yards on offense, and the Arrows' defensive unit kept the Viking offense quiet for the majority of the night.

Clinton led 28-6 by halftime and continued the rout into the final two quarters of the game.

The Cougars enter the game after a 24-17 win over the Germantown Mavericks, a team in Clinton's region, last Friday in Flowood.

ARROW HONORS

A handful of Arrows earned recognition for their stellar individual play in the 45-13 win over Warren Central last Friday.

Mississippi Gridiron tapped Braylon Lowery, Jaiden Jefferson, and Braylon Spann, as top performers for week 1 of the high-school football season.

Lowery rushed 26 times for 144 yards and three touchdowns. The sophomore averaged roughly six yards per carry. Additionally, Lowery had two receptions for 19 yards.

Jefferson amassed nine solo tackles and a tackle for loss.

Spann connected on all six of his extra-point field goals and tacked on a 33-yard field goal during the fourth quarter.
