The Clinton High School Softball team's rally fell short in Mississippi High School Activities Association on Friday.

In Game 2, the Lady Arrows could not get the tying run off first base in the bottom of the seventh inning and fell to the Madison Central Jaguars, 4-2, in the second game of the MHSAA Second-Round series at Clinton High School. The Lady Arrows ended their season with a 19-12 record.

Madison Central opened the scoring with two runs on three hits. The Jaguars added to their advantage with a sacrifice fly, making the score 3-0 in the third.

Clinton answered in the bottom of the third. Keelyn Constancio plated the first run with an infield single to the shortstop, and Estrella Constancio added another with her sacrifice fly to left field. 

Madison Central scored another run on a ground out in the fifth, making the score 4-2.

Trailing by two runs, Jaelyn Gholar led off the seventh with a single. Keelyn added a one-out single, but the Lady Arrows popped out and grounded out in the next at-bats, ending their season.

NOTABLE STATS

• Annalise Whitworth led things off inside the circle for the Lady Arrows. The starter surrendered nine hits and four runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out one and walking four.
• Clinton collected seven hits against the Jaguars.
• Jaelyn Gholar and Keelyn Constancio each had two-hit games against Madison Central.
• Estrella Constancio and Keelyn Constancio drove in a run.

MEMORABLE SEASON

The Lady Arrows enjoyed a great season despite the series loss in the second round of the MHSAA Class 7A postseason. Clinton entered the 2025 playoffs with a seven-game winning streak, which it extended to nine with a first-round sweep of DeSoto Central.

Clinton had a .324 batting average, tallying 280 hits and 208 runs batted in. Of those 280 hits, the Lady Arrows had 43 doubles, 10 triples, and 11 home runs. The red and black outscored their opponents, 254-157.

Annalise Whitworth, Ashlyn Albritton, and Estrella Constancio took care of duties inside the pitching circle. The trio allowed only 188 hits in 925 batters faced. Whitworth led the group with an earned-run average of 2.12 and stranded 134 opponent runners on base.
