TUPELO -- The Clinton High School Women's Basketball team left little doubt that they were locked in for the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Division 2-7A Tournament on Monday afternoon.
The Lady Arrows raced out to a 23-point advantage in the first eight minutes and never looked back for a 54-34 victory over the Murrah Lady Mustangs in the tournament's play-in round at Tupelo High School. Clinton claimed its 20th win of the season and punched its ticket into the Class 7A tournament.
Jatoi Johnson scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down six rebounds.
Aria Jones scored 15 points, dished out three assists, and nabbed two steals.
Caitlin White scored eight points and collected six boards along with a pair of steals.
Grace Eatmon led the Lady Arrows in rebounding and block categories with seven and three, respectively.
Clinton's 47-percent shooting effort was 21-percentage points. The red and black outrebounded Murrah 36-28.
The Lady Arrows (20-7) led 27-4 after the first quarter and 41-14 at the intermission. Murrah outscored Clinton 20-13 in the second half.
