CLINTON -- The stage is set for the Clinton High School Women's Basketball team.
The Lady Arrows (17-13) will face the Starkville Lady Jackets in the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 7A State Quarterfinals on Thursday at 7 p.m. on the campus of Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena.
Clinton advanced to the quarterfinal round with a 34-27 road victory over DeSoto Central in the opening round on Friday, February 21, in Southaven.
With a trip to the state semifinals on the line, the Lady Arrows enter the postseason fray battle-tested and seasoned by a challenging Region 2-7A slate.
BY THE NUMBERS
Clinton has relied on balance and defensive toughness throughout the 2025-26 campaign.
As a team, Clinton averages 39 points per game, while allowing 43 points per contest. The Lady Arrows have totaled 642 rebounds, 245 steals, and 73 blocks this season, underscoring their defensive identity and commitment on the glass.
Grace Eatmon has anchored the offensive production with a team-high 12.3 points per game. Eatmon's inside presence has anchored the Lady Arrows on the board with a team-high 7.5 rebounds per game.
Aria Jones, a senior guard, has provided the production with a team-high 3.4 assists per game.
SCOUTING THE MATCHUP
Thursday marks the fourth meeting between two Region 2-7A opponents. Starkville has claimed the previous three contests, including a 52-24 decision in the Region 2-7A Tournament semifinals.
However, postseason basketball often tells a different story.
Clinton will look to control tempo, limit turnovers, and capitalize on defensive stops as it seeks to flip the script against a familiar foe with a semifinal berth at stake.
