LAUREL -- The Clinton High School Women's Soccer team opened their 2025-26 season with back-to-back wins on Saturday at the Laurel Sportsplex.
The Lady Arrows won 3-0 in both games, defeating the West Jones Mustangs and the South Jones Braves at the South Jones Classic.
Clinton wasted no time in the first match, pouncing on West Jones in the fourth minute.Â
Carly Howell put away an outstanding assist from
Ja'Milah Williams inside the 18-yard box. Eight minutes later, Williams turned goal scorer herself, slotting home a pass from
Kayla Jones. The Lady Arrows added their final goal in the second half when
Joelle Ambrose set up
Ashton Montgomery, who converted the pass with a well-placed strike in the 44th minute.
In the second match against South Jones, Jones opened her season's goal-scoring account with a curling effort to the back post in the first minute. Clinton held its one-goal advantage over the Braves into the intermission before pulling away for good.
Williams and Jones combined for a pair of goals in the 38th and 45th minutes, respectively, easing the Lady Arrows to their second win.
Elise Thomas,
Mamie Boswell, and Jones were responsible for assists against South Jones.
Ellyn Burchfield and Sidney-Owens Morgan combined for clean sheets in both matches.
