TUPELO -- The Clinton High School Women's Soccer team battled through 110 scoreless minutes Friday night before falling 5-4 in penalty kicks to the Tupelo Lady Wave in the second round of the MHSAA Class 7A Playoffs at Renasant Field.
In a tightly contested postseason showdown, neither side found a breakthrough in regulation or overtime as defensive heroics and poised goalkeeping highlighted both teams' performances.
The shootout proved decisive. Tupelo, the MHSAA Region 1-7A champions, missed its opening attempt but converted its next five spots kicks to seal the 5-4 advantage, advancing to the semifinal round.
The postseason setback closed the book on the 2025-26 campaign for Clinton. The Lady Arrows finished the season with a 14-6-3 overall record and secured second place in MHSAA Region 2-7A with an impressive 8-2 mark in district play.
Clinton's senior class of
Ruby Acy,
Carly Howell, and
Kayla Jones guided the program continued the standard of consistency and hard work that defined the Lady Arrows in recent seasons.
