The Clinton High School Football team had a long night against a hard-pounding Grenada High School on Friday.

McCaleb Taylor rushed for 305 yards and seven touchdowns, and the Chargers spoiled the Arrows' Homecoming Festivities with a 55-22 win at Arrow Field.

Taylor scored on rushing attempts of one, six, 21, six, 11, 12, and 78 yards. Taylor scored four touchdowns in the first half, giving the Chargers a 28-15 advantage at halftime, and his 78-yard score in the fourth quarter punctuated a long night for Clinton.

Jakobe Williams got the Arrows on the board first with 6:38 remaining in the first. Williams plunged into the end zone from the 1-yard line when the Arrows elected to convert on a fourth-and-1. Head Football Coach John Carr elected to go for the 2-point conversion, and Josef Walker connected with Phillip Burchfield when the tight end leaked behind the Grenada defensive secondary.

Following a Grenada touchdown, the Arrows extended their lead to seven points when Williams found a seam and sprinted into the end zone from 10 yards out. Williams' second touchdown run was set up by Jaden Johnson's 39-yard reception off a Walker pass. Braylon Spann added his first of two extra-point field goals, giving the Arrows a 15-8 advantage in the second quarter.

Williams found the end zone one more time in the second half. The senior running back's two-yard rushing score gave the Arrows hope, cutting the deficit to 28-22 with 7:17 left in the third.

The Chargers would race away, scoring 27 unanswered points in the final quarter.
