It is a similar scenario that the Clinton High School Football team faces this season.

Last year, the Arrows playoff hopes were on the line against the Germantown Mavericks. This year, the situation is not as dire, but it is pretty close.

Clinton (4-4, 1-1) takes on the Mavericks with postseason implication teeming from the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Region 2-7A game at Germantown High School that kicks off at 7 p.m. on Friday night.

Clinton sits tied for the third seed in MHSAA Region 2-7A, while Germantown (5-4, 0-3 Region 2-7A) is currently the fifth-place team. A win over Germantown would more than likely secure a playoff spot, but a loss would have the Arrows on thin ice when they play their final regular-season game against rival Madison Central High School on Thursday, Nov. 7, at Arrow Field.

Another game of interest for the Arrows is just south of Gluckstadt in Madison on Friday. The Starkville Yellowjackets, a team that the Arrows defeated 31-22 in region play, heads to Madison Central.

Clinton comes off a 49-0 away loss to the undefeated Tupelo Golden Wave, who leads Region 2-7A with a perfect 3-0 record. Germantown enters Friday's game after a heartbreaking 31-28 loss at Madison Central.

SERIES HISTORY

Clinton and Germantown have played nine times previously, making this week's contest the 10th-ever meeting. The Mavericks picked up their first-ever win against the Arrows last season in a 42-35 win on Oct. 27, 2023, at Arrow Field. The Arrows lead the series 8-1.

The address for Germantown High School is 409 Calhoun Station Pkwy, Madison, MS 39110. Germantown High School requests that visiting fans enter via Calhoun Station Parkway (main school entrance) and proceed to the student parking lot. Overflow traffic will utilize the entrance road and Calhoun Station Parkway.
