The Clinton Arrows Soccer team clinched the #1 seed for the upcoming MHSAA 7A playoffs on Thursday night by deeating the Tupelo Golden Wave by a score of 2-1. The win pushes the Arrows to a record of 7-1 in Region 2-7A and 17-2-2 overall. The Arrows earned the right to host the opening round of the playoffs on February 6.
Sophomore
Wes Ambrose started the scoring for the Arrows in the 17th minute to give the Arrows a 1-0 lead. That score would remain as both teams headed to the locker rooms at halftime.
In the second half, the Arrows put the game away in the 73rd minute as Senior
Brice Nunnery scored the second goal of the night on an assist from Senior
Price Farrar.
Head Coach Tyler Wade said of his team's performance, "Good to get back in the win column tonight and lock up the #1 seed in the playoffs. We still have a long way to go and it only gets more difficult going forward. We look forward to the challenge against Northwest Rankin next week and continuing to improve as we get ready for the playoffs."
The Arrows will host the Cougars of Northwest Rankin on Tuesday night, January 30 at Arrow Field. Kickoff will be at 7:15 PM.
