The Clinton Arrows Soccer team was handed their first Region 2-7A loss on Monday night at Madison Central as they fell in penalty kicks after 2 overtime periods.  The loss drops the Arrows to an overall record of 16-2-2 and 6-1 in Region 2-7A.

The scoring came early on Monday night as the two teams swapped 4 goals in the first 30 minutes of the game.  The Jaguars struck first before the Arrows equalized quickly on a goal from Senior Logan Cole.  The Jaguars took a 2-1 lead a few minutes later before Cole equalized again a few minutes after.  The teams headed into halftime with the score tied at 2.

The 2nd half was a hard-fought battle with chances for both sides that were not able to find any goals.  Regulation ended with the score still tied at 2.

The two overtime periods were more of the same as two 10 minute periods produced zero goals and the teams were destined for penalty kicks.

As the teams went to penalties, the Jaguar keeper was able to make a stop on the opening kick for the Arrows.  The Jaguars converted their opening attempt to go up 1-0.

The Jaguar keeper made another stop on the Arrows' second attempt before the Jaguars found the net to go up 2-0 after the 2nd round.

Senior Hayden Wolfe found the back of the net and the Jaguars' 3rd taker sent his shot wide left to make the score 2-1 after 3 rounds.

Senior Keaton Cole tied the score for the time-being as the Arrows' 4th taker before the Jaguars found the back of the net to make the score 3-2 after 4 rounds.

Senior Logan Bryant found the back of the net to tie the score at 3, but the Jaguars final taker was able to convert his attempt to end the game at 4-3 in penalties.

The Arrows return home on Thursday night as they host the Tupelo Golden Wave.  Kickoff has been moved up to 7 PM to allow for travel times for Tupelo.
