The Clinton Arrows Soccer team continued their winning ways on Tuesday night as they opened up Region 2-7A play with a 4-1 victory over the Germantown Mavericks. The win pushes the Arrows to a record of 10-0 and 1-0 in Region 2-7A.
The Mavericks scored the first goal of the game early in the 8th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Arrows stormed back, however, and took the lead back before halftime. Senior
Brice Nunnery evened the score in the 25th minute on a beautiful assist from Senior
Cody Barnett to make the score 1-1. 3 minutes later in the 28th minute, Senior
Price Farrar scored on an assist from Sophomore
Wes Ambrose. The score at halftime was 2-1 in favor of the Arrows.
The Arrows continued to pour it on in the 2nd half as Junior
Erick Martinez scored directly out of the break in the 41st minute to make the score 3-1. Sophomore
Timothy Graham capped the scoring on the night on another assist from Ambrose in the 78th minute.
Head Coach Tyler Wade said of his team's performance, "We played well to start the game, but gave up a goal on a quick counter attack 8 minutes in the game. I am proud of the guys for staying in the game mentally and physically after we went down and continuing to attack. We had a lot of chances to put the game away, but we were not able to get on the end of one. Pleased to be 1-0 in district play and look forward to continuing our progress through the season."
The Arrows return to action on Friday afternoon as they host the Hi Tides of Miami Beach High School at Arrow Field. The game will begin at 4 PM.
