The Clinton Arrows Soccer team defeated the Starkville Yellow Jackets by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday night at Arrow Field. The win pushes the Arrows to a record of 4-0 in Region 2-7A and an overall record of 14-0 heading into Christmas Break.
The Arrows started the scoring early as Sophomore
Wes Ambrose hit a long shot from over 30 yards into the top of the net in the 5th minute to make the score 1-0. Senior
Price Farrar scored the next goal in the 16th minute as he received an assist from Senior
Thomas Martin and dribbled the ball smoothly past the Yellow Jacket defender and put the ball in the back of the net to make the score 2-0.
After Starkville narrowed the lead to 2-1, Senior
Keaton Cole extended the lead once more in the 50th minute as he drilled a shot into the back of the net to make the score its final of 3-1.
Head Coach Tyler Wade said of his team's win, "It was good to get the early lead and put them under pressure from the start. We are pleased to be 14-0 and 4-0 in district play to finish off the first part of the season and get to the break. Excited to get a short break and continue to build as we look to peak as we finish the season."
The Arrows will take Christmas Break to rest and recover before returning to action in the FL-USA Soccer Challenge in Panama City, Florida. The Arrows will play Fort Walton High School on January 4th before playing Niceville and Arnold High Schools on January 5th.
