The Clinton Arrows Track and Field team returned to Birmingham, Alabama this past Saturday to compete in the Holiday Invitational. The Arrows and Lady Arrows put up impressive finishes and times in a variety of events.
Head Coach Johnathan Perkins said of his team's effort, "Our sprint group dominated this weekend from short sprints to long sprints on to short relays. I'm very pleased with how our teams closed out their 2023 competition seasons, and I can't wait to see how our team's marks improve through our 2024 seasons."
Highlight Results:
Girls 60 Meter Race
1. Senior Nakirsten Hughes won the event with a time of 7.73
2. Senior Tacherria Lawson finished in the Top 5 with a time of 7.85
Boys 60 Meter Race
1. Junior Omari Hampton finished in 2nd place with a time of 6.93
Girls 60 Meter Hurdles
1. Senior Jenesis Williams finished in 2nd place with a time of 9.15.
2. Junior Kaitlyn Jones finished in 3rd place with a time of 9.18.
3. Sophomore Andraeia Cavett posted a Top 10 finish with a time of 9.89.
Boys 60 Meter Hurdles
1. Sophomore Carter Parks posted a Top 10 finish with a time of 8.63.
Girls 400 Meter Race
1. 8th Grader Kamiah Mounger posted a Top 10 finish with a time of 1:01.10.
Boys 400 Meter Race
1. Junior Howard Banks finished in 2nd place with a time of 48.75.
Girls Shot Put
1. Senior Ruby Romig posted a Top 5 finish with a throw of 35-11.00
Boys Shot Put
1. Freshman Nathan Perkins posted a Top 10 finish with a throw of 41-07.00.
Girls Triple Jump
1. Sophomore Kyla Weathersby posted a Top 10 finish with a jump of 34-01.75.
The Boys and Girls 4x200 Meter Relay teams both won their events.
1. Girls ran a time of 1:42.52.
1. Boys ran a time of 1:30.42.
The Girls "B" Team also finished in the Top 5 with a time of 1:45.40.
