The Clinton Arrows Soccer Team gained 2 quality early season wins on a trip to the coast on Saturday. The Arrows began the day by winning 2-0 at Ocean Springs, and finished the day with a 6-3 scoring slugfest at Gulfport. The win moves the Arrows to 3-0 on the young season.
In the first game, the Arrows scored early in the 12th minute with a goal by Junior
Erick Martinez that was assisted by Senior
Brice Nunnery. Just before halftime, Senior
Logan Cole gave the Arrows a 2-0 lead. Senior GK
Caleb Pemberton earned a clean sheet for the Arrows in goal.
In the nightcap, the Arrows got off to a quick start with a goal by Nunnery in the 2nd minute of the game. Nunnery would score again in the 25th minute to give the Arrows a 2-1 lead going into halftime.
In the 2nd half, the slugfest took place as the early season minutes led to 6 goals combined for the two teams. Cole scored his second goal of the day in the 42nd minute, Martinez added his second goal of the day in the 50th minute, Nunnery completed his hat trick with his third goal of the game in the 65th minute, and Martinez capped the scoring in the 70th minute to get the Arrows to the 6-3 final score. Keaton Cole added assists.
The Arrows return to action next Tuesday when they face the Warriors of Oak Grove at Arrow Field at 7 PM.
