BOVINA -- The Clinton High School men's golf team turned in its best performance in three seasons at the Viking Classic on Thursday, Sept. 24, at Clear Creek Golf Club.

The Arrows finished third in the team standings, combining for a team score of 333 over the 18-hole, par-72 event. The 333 marked Clinton's lowest team score since the 2023 season and placed the Arrows five strokes ahead of Northwest Rankin for the podium finish.

Ben Brunson and Parker Cole paced Clinton with matching rounds of 82, tying for 11th individually. The 82s marked the lowest individual rounds by an Arrow through six events this season.

Brunson birdied the ninth hole to make the turn at 4-over before carding 6-over score on the back nine. Cole shot 3-over on the front nine before finishing the back nine at 7-over.

Cooper Smith followed with an 84 to finish tied for 19th individually, while Anderson Schoggin carded an 85 to place 22nd and complete Clinton's four scoring rounds.

Jay Renick added an 87 for the Arrows.

Clinton placed all five golfers inside the individual top 30, with each Arrow breaking 90 for the first time in a tournament this season. The performance continued the Arrows' season-long progression, culminating with the program's lowest score since 2023.

Clinton returns to the course on Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Mississippi High School Invitational at the Mississippi State University Golf Course in Starkville.
