HATTIESBURG -- The Clinton High School Tennis team continued a positive mid-season push Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader with wins over Presbyterian Christian School and Gulfport High School.
The pair of victories gives the Arrows four wins in their last five outings and improves Clinton's varsity record to 6-3 on the season.
Clinton has built momentum during this recent stretch, which also includes wins over St. Andrew's Episcopal School and Pisgah High School.
CLINTON 4, PRESBYTERIAN CHRISTIAN 3
Clinton opened the day with a tightly contested win over the host Presbyterian Christian.
David Levi Johnson set the tone in singles play with a 6-4, 6-3 victory. The Arrows found additonal mojo in doubles where the No. 2 Boys' team of
Kushal Mannam and
Manas Guduru delivered a dominant 6-0, 6-1 performance.
On the girls' side,
Morgan Rowland and
Cate Thompson secured another key point with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Ethan Rone and Elaine Cook rose to the moment in the mixed doubles match. After dropping the opening set, the Clinton duo responded with a 6-4 second set before controlling the super tiebreaker 10-6 to clinch the team victory.
CLINTON 4, GULFPORT 3
The Arrows carried the first-match momentum into their second match of the day against Gulfport.
In singles play, Tanasvi Uppu dominated with a 6-1, 6-0 win, while Mannam followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory to give Clinton an early advantage.
Kacey Gladney and Thompson controlled their No. 2 Girls' Doubles match 6-1, 6-1.
Kinley Brooks and Rone secured a pivotal point in mixed doubles, winning 6-3, 6-0.

The Clinton Varsity Tennis team travels to face the Brandon Bulldogs on Monday at 3:30 p.m.
On Thursday, the Arrows return to Region 2-7A action against the Germantown Mavericks at the Madison County Schools Tennis Center. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
