CLINTON -- The Clinton High School Baseball team were limited to one hit Tuesday night as the Northwest Rankin Cougars claimed a 6-1 victory at Arrow Baseball Field.
The Cougars struck first with a run in the opening frame before Clinton answered in the bottom of the third. Designated hitter
Case Robinson accounted for the Arrows' lone hit of the contest and later came around to score, tying the game at 1-1.
Northwest Rankin broke the game open in the fifth inning, plating four runs to seize control. The Cougars added an insurance run in the seventh.
Clinton drew five walks on the night but could not capitalize, leaving four runners on base.
On the mound,
Brady Holmes worked 4-1/3 innings with five strikeouts. Clinton utilized multiple arms in relief, including
Ryan Saxton,
Gage Temple,
Jake Bell, and
London Mckenzie, combining for eight strikeouts in the contest.
