CLINTON -- From opening whistle, the Clinton High School Women's Soccer team was in complete control, cruising to an 8-0 Region 2-7A victory over Starkville on Tuesday night at Arrow Field.
Carly Howell jump-started the scoring just one minute into the match, finishing a
Ruby Acy assist.
Ja'Milah Williams followed with a pair of goals, both set up by
Kayla Jones and Acy, before Jones turned from provider to finisher by driving home a free kick off the bottom of the crossbar.
Cate Thompson's corner kick found the net to make it 5-0, and Addi White capped the first-half surge with a goal off an
Elise Thomas corner kick.
Clinton continue its momentum in the second half when
Joelle Ambrose finished off a Williams assist, and Williams completed her hat trick by converting a
Taylor Stamps set-up to close out the scoring.
Ellyn Burchfield recorded her 11th shutout of the season in the mercy-rule shortened contest.
The Lady Arrows recognized four seniors following the match.

Ruby Acy,
Kayla Jones, and
Carly Howell were honored for their contributions and dedication to the CHS Women's Soccer program.
