CJHS Girls' Track and Field Captures State Title

Lady Arrows win back-to-back championships

CJHS Girls' Track and Field celebrates its second straight state title in Pearl.

PEARL -- The Clinton Junior High School Girls' Track and Field team claimed its second straight state title on Monday on the campus of Pearl High School.

The Lady Arrows dominated the 35-team field en route to its state title at the 2025 Mississippi  High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Track and Field Classic, the third annual state-title event for middle school track and field in Mississippi, at Woody Barnett Track and Field Complex. Clinton amassed 136 points while the closest opposition Madison Middle School tallied 53 points, placing Madison in second.

PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS

In the individual track events, Jade Evans placed first in the 100-meter race and 200-meter race with times of 12.50 seconds and 26.09 seconds, respectively. Emily Fortenberry clocked a time of one minute, four seconds in the 400-meter race, winning the individual  state title. Lauren Banks added a third-place finish in the 800-meter race, and Olivia Gibbs grabbed third in the 3200-meter race.

In the relay track events, the girls' 4x100 meter and 4x200 meter captured state titles in those events.

In the field individual events, Regan Coleman posted an 82-foot, 3-inch throw in the discuss -- good enough for second place. Jurnee Nash captured an individual state title in shot put when she threw a distance of 36-feet, two-inches. Erian Douglas and Jamya Marshall placed second and third, respectively, in the triple jump.
