Ethan Dodson drove in seven runs on three hits to power the Clinton High School Baseball team past the Vicksburg Gators, 17-0, in 2-1/2 innings on Friday at Arrow Baseball Field.
Dodson hit a three-run home run to left field during a 14-run second inning, collected a two-run single in the first, and plated two more runs on a double in the second.
Clinton's second inning made it a quick night, inducing the MHSAA mercy rule.
Josef Walker drew a walk, scoring one run, Dodson homered,
Parker Thames executed a sacrifice fly, scoring a run,
Aaric Beasley was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Walker was struck by a pitch, adding yet another run,
Chad Bates singled, scoring two runs, Dodson added a double, scoring two runs,
Stone Crain doubled, scoring one run,
Tyrese Haggard drew a walk, scoring one run, and Thames singled, scoring the last run of the frame.
The Arrows jumped out to a three-run advantage in the bottom of the first. Dodson singled, scoring two runs, and Crain hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one more.
Jack Grove earned the win on the mound. Grove gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one.
Wes Ambrose pitched one inning of scoreless ball for Clinton in relief. The hurler surrendered zero hits, struck out one, and issued no walks.
The Arrows stole five bases against the Gators and have now stolen 51 stolen bases for the season.

The Arrows begin a Divison 2-7A series against the Madison Central Jaguars this week. The Arrows travel to Madison for game one with a 7 p.m. start time on the campus of Madison Central High School. Clinton returns home on Friday with a 7 p.m. start time at Arrow Baseball Field.
