Having dropped the opening two matches of the MHSAA District 2-7A slate, the Clinton High School Tennis team needed a response before their situation grew too dire.
The Arrows found the response on a resplendent Saturday afternoon at the CHS Tennis Courts, defeating the Starkville Yellowjackets by a team score of 6-1. The commanding victory advanced the Arrows' District 2-7A record to 1-2.
Clinton claimed all five doubles matches and
Tejasvi Uppu won the women's singles match in straight sets 6-1 and 7-6.
In the first-seeded boys' doubles match,
Kushal Mannam and
Ethan Rone dropped the opening set, 3-6, but rallied for a 6-3 second set victory and a 10-5 tiebreaker in the third. The second boys' doubles match featured
Jacob Strickler and
Brady Mayfield, who defeated the Jackets' pairing 6-1, 1-6, and 10-2.
For the girls' doubles matches,
