CLINTON -- The Clinton High School Women's Soccer team played a to 1-1 draw against the St. Patrick Fighting Irish in a non-district match Friday night at Arrow Field.
The Lady Arrows wrapped up the first half of the season unbeaten in four of their final five matches, carrying a 7-2-2 overall record into the break.
Clinton controlled much of the opening half, creating the better chances over the first 40 minutes, but was unable to find a breakthrough before halftime.
That changed immediately after the restart. Just 24 seconds into the second half,
Kayla Jones slipped a perfectly-weighted pass through the Irish back line to
Ruby Acy, who finished in front of goal to give Clinton a 1-0 advantage.
St. Patrick leveled the match in the 54th minute following a defensive miscue. Bella Jordan capitalized on a heavy touch from a defender, raced 50 yards up the field, and finished the breakaway to draw the Irish even.
Both sides pushed for a late winner, but neither team was able to find the decisive goal over the final 26 minutes as the match ended level.
