CLINTON -- Zariya Bass scored one goal and supplied two assists,
Carly Howell scored twice,
Ellyn Burchfield picked up her sixth clean sheet and the Clinton High School Women's Soccer team defeated the Murrah Lady Mustangs, 6-0, in a MHSAA Region 2-7A contest on Thursday night at Arrow Field.
The six-goal victory improved the Lady Arrows Region 2-7A record to 3-1 and 7-2-1 overall. The win marked Clinton's third straight triumph in region action.
The Lady Arrows opened the scoring when Howell put away an
Elise Thomas set up in the 6th minute.
Leah Johnson doubled the advantage in the 25th minute with a long-range strike off an assist from
Ruby Acy. Four minutes later,
Macy Kate Schoggen threaded a pass to Bass, who dribbled several defenders before tucking her shot the corner of the net, giving the Lady Arrows a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Kayla Jones opened the second-half scoring in the 42nd minute with a blistering strike from outside the 18-yard box, finishing off an assist from Howell. Eleven minutes later, Bass earned a penalty kick that Thomas calmly converted to extend Clinton's lead to 5-0. Howell capped the scoring in the 69th minute, finishing off a setup from Bass.

Over the Holiday Break, the Lady Arrows will travel to the Mississippi Gulf Coast for a two-game stretch at the I-10/I-20 Blast Tournament hosted by Gulfport High School across multiple host sites on Friday and Saturday, January 2-3.
