Arrow Track and Field enjoys success at Holiday Invitational

Carter Parks, Jonah Banks win their events

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Clinton High School Track and Field teams continued their indoor season on Saturday, December 13, competing in the Holiday Invitational #2 at the Birmingham Crossplex.

Senior Carter Parks delivered another standout performance, trimming a hundredth of a second off his personal best to win the boys 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.98 seconds. Parks has now claimed victories in the event at both Holiday Invitational #2 and the Magic City Invitational #2 on December 6.

Sophomore Jonah Banks joined Parks atop the podium, capturing first place in the high jump with a clearance of 6 feet, 8 inches. The mark was a two-inch improvement over his previous best and built upon his third-place finish at the Magic City Invitational earlier this month.

TOP-10 ARROWS

  • Senior Dwight Palmer, Jr. earned a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash, clocking a time of 6.86 seconds.
  • After his victory in the high jump, Banks added a strong performance with a fourth-place finish in the long jump, recording a leap of 21 feet, 6.25 inches.
  • Junior Anthony Blake finished in fifth place in the triple jump. Blake's best jump of the event was 42 feet, nine inches.
TOP-10 LADY ARROWS
  • Andraeia Cavett earned a runner-up finish in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 8.82 seconds.
  • Jamaya Ivory captured third place in the triple jump, recording a successful jump of 37 feet, 2.75 inches on her final attempt. 
  • Kamiah Mounger captured a fourth in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line in 57.97 seconds.
  • In the 60-meter dash, Camille Lewis and Khamrin Harper posted times of 7.86 seconds and 7.87 seconds in the 60-meter dash, finishing eighth and ninth, respectively.
  • Sophomore Tenley Prestwood cleared a pole-vault jump of 10 feet, finishing in eighth place.
