TUPELO -- The Clinton High School Women's soccer team continued the positive start of the 2025-26 season, defeating the Lafayette County Commodores and drawing with the Tupelo Lady Wave in a competitive doubleheader on Saturday, November 8th, at Renasant Field on the campus of Tupelo High School.
CLINTON 5, LAFAYETTE COUNTY 0
A four-goal second half and
Kayla Jones' brace powered the Lady Arrows past the Commodores, 5-0, in the day's opening game.
Jones opened the scoring from outside the 18-yard box off an assist from
Joelle Ambrose in the 20th minute.
After the break,
Elise Thomas' long-range effort slipped past the keeper. Just 39 seconds later, Jones completed her brace from the penalty spot, converting her second goal during the 38th minute.
Clinton's attack stayed relentless as
Chaney Williamson finished
Zariya Bass's assist in the 59th minute, and
Ruby Acy capped off the scoring four minutes later to secure the 5-0 result.
CLINTON 1, TUPELO 1
In the second game, the goals came late as Clinton and Tupelo battled to a 1-1 draw.
Carly Howell's spectacular, 42-yard shot looped over the Tupelo goalie's outstretched hands, giving the Lady Arrows a goal advantage. The Lady Wave equalized just three minutes later off a long throw that was redirected into the net.

The Lady Arrows (3-0-1) travel south for a pair of games at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Perkinston, facing Mt. Carmel Academy (New Orleans, La.) on Friday, November 21, and Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) on Saturday, November 22.
