The No. 1-ranked Tupelo Lady Wave showed why they are considered by many to be the best team in Mississippi women's basketball on Friday night at Arrow Gym.
The Lady Wave (17-0, 2-0 District 2-7A) got out to a hot start and never looke back in a 67-41 win over the Clinton Lady Arrows in the District 2-7A matchup. The loss pushed the Lady Arrows' overall record to 14-4 and their district record to 1-1.
Grace Eatmon paced Clinton's offensive output, scoring 13 points on 46-percent shooting.
Caitlin White added 10 points, knocking down three-of-four attempts from beyond the 3-point arc.
Aria Jones contributed eight points for the Lady Arrows in their first district loss.
Tupelo's Nadia Norfleet made 64-percent of her shots and led the visitors with 21 points.
The Lady Wave led 32-14 by intermission, outshooting the Lady Arrows by 17-percent from the field.
