CLINTON — The Clinton Public School District is excited to announce Joshua Luckett as the new head coach of the Clinton Arrows boys basketball team.

"I'm very excited about this new opportunity at Clinton. Thanks to Dr. Fortenberry and Judd Boswell for the chance to lead the boy's basketball program," Luckett said. "I look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence here while providing student-athletes with the necessary tools to succeed on and off the court."

Coach Luckett takes over an Arrows basketball program that finished the 2023-2024 season with an appearance in the 2024 MHSAA 7A State Basketball finals.

Since 2018, Luckett served as head basketball coach at Northwest Rankin where he helped lead the Cougars to win the 2023 MHSAA 6A State title. His teams recorded twenty-win seasons in 2020, 2022 and 2023, winning back to back district championships in 2022 & 2023.

In 2023, Luckett was named Capital Sports Coach of the Year and was a member of Tomorrow's 25 inaugural class.

Prior to his time at Northwest Rankin, he was head coach of the boys basketball team and cross country team at Union High School.

After an extensive search for a new boys basketball coach, Clinton Athletics Director Judd Boswell said it was clear Coach Luckett's exceptional leadership qualities set him apart to become the new boys coach as well as assistant athletic director.

"We believe that his experience and dedication will be a tremendous asset to our boys basketball program as well as our overall Athletic Leadership," Boswell said.

"We are confident that Coach Luckett's leadership will inspire our student-athletes to achieve their full potential, and we look forward to the positive impact he will have on our athletic department and the entire school community."

Luckett's coaching career began in 2013 where he served as an assistant coach for the basketball, track-and-field and football programs at Leake Central High School.

A native of Carthage, Mississippi, Luckett stood out as a MACJC All-Star for the East Central Community College basketball team. Luckett continued his education and playing career at Belhaven, earning a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 2013.

In 2021, Luckett earned a master's of education in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State.
