The Clinton Arrows Baseball team split their two games on Tuesday in Biloxi as they defeated the Alcorn Central Golden Bears from Glen, MS by a score of 11-1 in 4 innings before falling to the Biloxi Indians in a 2-1 pitchers' duel.

In the first game of the day, the Arrows dominated from beginning to end, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and scoring 8 more in the bottom of the 3rd before the Golden Bears scored 1 in the top of the 4th.  At the Battle at the Beach, the mercy rule is 10 runs after 4 complete innings, which ended the game early with an Arrows victory.

On the mound for the Arrows, Sophomore Stone Crain pitched all 4 innings, giving up 4 hits and recording 6 strikeouts.

At the plate for the Arrows, Crain went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI.  Sophomore Josef Walker went 1-for-2 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.  Senior AJ Seiter went 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored.  Sophomore Ethan Dodson went 2-or-2 with an RBI with a run scored.

In the nightcap, the Arrows dropped a close decision against the host school Biloxi Indians.  The Arrows struck first in the top of the 1st after Crain reached on an error by the left fielder and then scored when Walker put the ball in play and grounded out to make the score 1-0.  The Indians responded quickly in the bottom of the 1st when the first batter of the game for the Indians doubled to right field before reaching third on an Arrows error and scoring on a sacrifice fly to right field.

The next 4 and a half innings resulted in zero runs scored as both pitchers settled in and dominated the middle part of the game.  The Indians scored their second run of the game in the bottom of the 6th when the leadoff man reached on an error before a single advanced runners to 1st and 2nd.  The next Indians hitter lined into a double play, creating a situation with 2 outs and a runner on 1st.  The next hitter reached on an outfield error that brought home the runner from 1st and gave the Indians the 2-1 lead.

On the mound for the Arrows in Game 2, Senior Ethan Ross got straddled with the loss after pitching 5 innings, giving up only 4 hits, 2 unearned runs, and striking out 4 Indians.  Junior Phillip Burchfield threw the final inning, giving up 1 hit and no runs.

At the plate, the Arrows could only muster 2 hits on the night.  Dodson went 1-for-3 and Sophomore Chad Bates had the other hit on the night.

The Arrows return to action on Wednesday afternoon as they take on the Saints of Briarcrest Christian School out of Eads, TN.  First pitch will be at 2:30 PM at D'Iberville High School in Biloxi.
