FLOWOOD -- The Clinton High School Women's Basketball team did not let the game slip away against the Northwest Rankin Lady Cougars on Tuesday night.

Though their six-point, halftime advantage shrank down the stretch, the Lady Arrows showed perseverance and determination to outlast the Lady Cougars 32-29 at Northwest Rankin High School. The non-region win continued Clinton's impressive start to the 2024-25 season, having won eight out of its first 10 games.

Aria Jones scored six of her 10 points in the opening quarter, and Lacey Davis chipped in a pair of buckets as the red and black raced out to a 10-5 advantage. In the eight minutes before halftime, Clinton had four different players contribute on the offensive end, taking an 18-12 advantage into the locker room.

During the second half, the Lady Arrows were advantageous of their opportunities from the free-throw line. Clinton knocked down six of their eight attempts at the charity stripe, including a four out of six during the fourth quarter.

Though the Lady Cougars' nine-out-of-12 performance at the free-throw line made things uncomfortable, the Lady Arrows kept their whits and came away with the victory.

Davis, who shot 75-percent from the free-throw line, finished with nine points, and Jatoi Johnson added four points.

Clinton (8-2) heads on another road trip on Friday. The Lady Arrows take on the Warren Central Lady Vikings at 6 p.m. in Vicksburg.
