RIDGELAND -- It was not until
Caitlin White poached the basketball and raced down the court for an easy fast-break basket as the game clock expired that the Clinton High School Women's Basketball team could breathe a little easier in its non-district game on Friday night.
White's last two points finished a second-half comeback and secured a 42-36 win over the Ridgeland Lady Titans at Ridgeland High School. It was Clinton's first win of the 2024-25 season.
Trailing 20-19 at halftime,
Aria Jones implored the Lady Arrows to take the lead in the third quarter. The junior guard utilized high-tempo transitions off defensive stops to score Clinton's first eight points of the period. Along with four points from
Eyana McKinley in the post, the red and black carried a 31-27 advantage into the last quarter and would not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game.
Clinton would stretch its advantage to as much as eight points during the final eight minutes. Despite the Lady Arrows inconsistency at the free-throw line, they made up for it on the defensive end never allowing the Lady Titans to get a run started and to struggle offensively.
