The Clinton High School Women's Soccer team scored in the opening 40 seconds of its non-district game and never looked back on Tuesday night at Arrow Field.
Ja'Milah Williams collected a hat trick in the first 15 minutes, and the Lady Arrows scored 11 goals in the opening 40 minutes against the Choctaw Central Lady Warriors, tallying a dominating 12-0 win.
"We treat these non-district games as tune-ups for the games that really matter, starting in December," Clinton Head Women's Soccer Coach Elliot Rimmer said. "Obviously, every scoreline is important to us, but what's really vital to us is that we see progress in our performances. I thought tonight was the first game where we have looked ready to play from the opening kickoff. We really kept our foot on the gas the whole game."
The Lady Arrows (3-1) did not wait long to strike as
Elise Thomas bagged the opening goal of the night. Two minutes later, Williams knocked in a cross to double the advantage. Then, it was Williams in the 7th minute, and
Ruby Acy added her first a few minutes later.
Kayla Jones added her first goal during the opening minutes, as well.
Williams finished off her hat-trick game in the 15th minute. In the final 25 minutes, it was
Addison White,
Harper Davis, and
Joelle Ambrose, adding goals respectively, and Thomas and Jones scored their second goals during that stretch.
With the 11-goal advantage at the intermission and
Chaney Williamson's 42nd-minute goal, the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) mercy rule was enacted, ending the game at the 50th minute.
Ellyn Burchfield recorded her second clean sheet of the young 2024-25 season.
