On a drizzly Saturday afternoon at Arrow Field, the Lady Arrows Soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with the Lewisburg Lady Patriots. The draw moves the Lady Arrows to 5-0-2 on the season.
Clinton got the scoring started in the 13th minute on a goal by Sophomore
Kayla Jones. Jones had a through ball from Senior
Zoie Zumbro that turned into a breakaway in which she was able to touch the ball past Lewisburg's keeper to make the score 1-0. Lewisburg evened the score on a free kick that was placed just out of the outstretched fingertips of goalkeeper Senior
Sarah Polk.
The two teams traded opportunities in the 2nd half, but both keepers came up with saves in big situations to keep the score at its final of 1-1.
Head Coach Elliot Rimmer said of his team's effort, "Today was a good learning experience for us about how to handle intense and physical games, and the consequences when you do not keep the main thing the main thing. Lewisburg had a good game plan and they did well executing it, and we allowed them to knock us off of our game for too much of the game. This lesson honestly came at a good time for us as we enter district play this week, and will have a run of games from now until the end of the season in which every game matters and we will need to stay composed and focused every minute in order to get through our district."
The Lady Arrows return to action on Tuesday as they travel north to Gluckstadt to take on the Lady Mavericks of Germantown High School. Tuesday's match will be the Region 2-7A opener for both sides. Kickoff will be at 5:30 PM.
